Cine Sarkar Editorial Desk | Our perspective is informed by publicly available reviews, audience reactions, and information surrounding the film.

‘Don’t Trouble the Trouble’ marks Malayalam star Fahadh Faasil’s first Telugu film as the solo lead. Presented by S.S. Rajamouli and directed by Shashank Yeleti, the fantasy comedy reached theatres on October 2. It sets out to tell a gentle, funny story about an unlikely bond between a self-serving man and a little girl, with a touch of magic on top. It gets about halfway there before the story loses steam.

The setup

Suri (Fahadh Faasil) is an orphan who drives an ambulance and cares, above all, about money. Deep in debt to a dangerous gangster, he settles on a desperate way out: kidnapping a little girl named Divya (Ssara Palekar). The plan quickly goes sideways, and what begins as a kidnapping turns into an unexpected fantasy adventure. Where that adventure leads is best left for the screen.

Performances

Fahadh is the film’s biggest asset. His comic timing, expressive face and sincere handling of Telugu dialogue lift even the ordinary stretches, and the lighter fantasy-comedy register is a welcome change for an actor best known for intense drama. Ssara Palekar is a natural as Divya: spontaneous, endearing, and able to match Fahadh in the emotional moments. Their chemistry is the beating heart of the film. Venkatesh Kakumanu makes an impression as Suri’s loyal friend, and Mahesh Manjrekar brings weight to a role with limited screen time.

What works

  • The Fahadh–Ssara pairing and every scene built around it
  • A breezy first half driven by situational comedy
  • A playful use of the fantasy element
  • Visual effects used sparingly and well, with a firefly sequence as the standout moment
  • An emotional core in the climax that feels sincere

Where it falls short

  • The central conflict is too thin, so the story turns predictable early
  • The second half slips into chase mode and loses much of the first half’s charm
  • Gags and situations start to repeat
  • The climax is stretched, and its emotional payoff arrives only after testing the viewer’s patience
  • Several supporting characters are left with little to do

Cine Sarkar’s take

The idea is charming and the performances deliver, but the writing doesn’t give that idea enough story to sustain a full feature. Shashank Yeleti handles the light-hearted and magical moments with care, yet loses his grip on the pacing as the film goes on. The lead performances and the first-half fun pull the film up, while the slight story and sagging second half hold it back. Weighing those strengths against those weaknesses, the Cine Sarkar Editorial Desk rates it 2.5/5.

Who it’s for

Families looking for a light film to enjoy with children, and Fahadh fans curious about his Telugu turn, will find plenty to like. Viewers hoping for a tight comedy or a strong story may grow restless in the second half. It isn’t a must-see in theatres, but it makes for a pleasant, relaxed family watch.

Cine Sarkar verdict: Fahadh and little Ssara bring the magic; the story runs out of it.
